Now that the Republicans have officially shut down portions of the United States government, it’s time to get even. We all know that in general Republicans love to drive big SUV’s. (Okay that’s a huge assumption, but one day we are sure that the facts will prove us right. For right now, just go with it.)
Sooooo, it’s time to get out on your bicycle, and head for the roads!
If you are a government worker who is currently being furloughed, it is your duty to get on the road and slow down Republican-driven traffic.
In any event, you won’t be able to go to any National Parks, because they’re all closed. Just look at Google’s remarkable “Google” graphic today. Yellowstone, Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, the Statue of Liberty! Need we say more? Our essential liberty is at stake, as well as our lives, and democracy.
The country coming to a grounding halt, 800,000 employees will not be paid today, and for the foreseeable future, while a bunch of lunatics in the Republican party sit around equivocating and acting like the healthcare law actually hasn’t already been passed. And it’s all because they don’t like a law that was legitimately passed by a government system with checks and balances.
Now I know a lot of you are blaming our President, Barack Obama for this mess. But you really can’t. Why not? Because the healthcare law was already signed into law. It is no longer part of the debate. What the Republicans have done is try to create a public relations stunt that will make Americans believe that the choice of whether the Healthcare bill is voted into law is still a question.
But it’s not. Let’s give you an example. You go to court for a crime, and they say you’re not guilty. End of story, you’re free. This is like the Republicans saying we aren’t free to choose our own healthcare. The thing is, we are.
This is like bringing up the idea of whether Obama was voted into office or not. He was. Or like bringing up whether your wife was right: she was.
Add to that, what exactly is the fringe Republicans’ goal? In our view, to continually embarrass the President of the United States, possibly because they don’t like the idea that a Black man is running the country. It’s so juvenile, and anachronistic, don’t you think?
So get out there and RIDE YOUR BIKE.
