UCI Professional Race Tour Schedule

Below is the schedule for all the big European professional bike races this year, all of them held under the auspices of the International Cycling Union (UCI).

Tourists and fans are allowed to travel to parts of these races and stand on the side of the road, climb or finish and watch the race in progress.

The larger races, such as the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Espana normally have large groups of followers who use their own or rent large traveling vans. You’ll see them parked long in advance along side the road for days before the riders pass through.

Many fix themselves to the sides of long, winding alpine roads at pitches that would make the normal American very nervous. Getting drunk and dressing in outrageous clown costumes and wigs, or wearing almost nothing at all except g-strings and body paint, is a common occurrence among the fans.

At CI we would rather follow the race as journalists, but hundreds of thousands of fans yearly follow the 21 stage Tour de France in this way.
