TIME’S UP! secured a donation of 15 aluminum trailers from Occupy Sandy for disaster relief rides of much-needed goods to the Rockaways today, Sunday. For those who want to join you can come to the TIME’S UP! Brooklyn Space at 9:00 a.m. to get a trailer, or if you already have one (or a cargo bike) come to the Occupy Sandy Hub.
Pick up blankets, food, medical supplies, and more from the Hub at 520 Clinton Avenue at 9:30am, ride to 96th St in Rockaway to drop off goods to Occupy Sandy Distribution, distribute individual packages to home-ridden families, help with demo and construction, and provide free bike repair and bicycle-generated power.
These rides highlight the need for relief not only from the immediate disaster, but also the root cause of this disaster and others — the burning of fossil fuels, according to the TIMES UP! organization, which has been organizing non-official bicycle rides through the city for years.
