Today the Urban Mobility Project delivered eight trailer loads of supplies to Unitarian Chuch at Snug
Harbor, Staten Island.
The cyclists used bike carriers to transport materials through Manhattan, and onto the Staten Island Ferry. Once on the Island, they were able to make deliveries by bicycle, a process far more efficient and convenient given current heavy traffic and gas shortages.
The group, which is run by cyclist and advocate Shelly Mossey, says they will make a second trip. “Anyone that has a trailer is welcome to join us,” writes Mossey.
The area was one of the worst hit by Hurricane Sandy, as were other parts of Staten Island facing the water.
