Piermont, NY Ruined by Hurricane Sandy

Thanks to Richard Benfield, we have this video of what happened to our favorite town, on our favorite ride up Route 9W into Piermont.

Water was everywhere during the storm. Streets and homes, subsumed. According to reports from Deborah Brenner of Cafe Portofino, all their equipment, electrical and other items have to be replaced.

So starts the slow recovery. Once they are up and running, we will post a planned party at one of the restaurants, to help bring them back to financial health.

Fortunately, the Piermont Bicycle Connection, the local bike shop was not affected much by the storm. “We are on slightly higher ground,” said one of the owners, Glenn Davgin.
