Roller Races Tonight to Raise Velodrome Funds

A local racing club will be holding indoor roller races tonight to raise funds for a new velodrome in the Bronx.

The velodrome to be built at the Kingsbridge Armory is being planned by a group led by Mike Green, a member and previous board member of the Century Road Club Association.

The races, which will take place on indoor rollers that can resemble the ride that a cyclists normally takes–along with the inherent instability posed by a road surface–at Amity Hall at 80 West 3rd Street, at 7 pm tonight.

Donations for viewers of the races are $20, and the cost of racing is $10. Racers can sign up at the CRCA website.

What indoor race would not be complete without beer, which will be provided by the Bronx Brewery. A raffle for $5 will benefit youth programs at the Armory.
